Kutchin

The Gwich'in, formerly known as Kutchin, live in Northern Alaska and in the Yukon territory (Canada). In 1990 there were 365 speakers in Alaska, maybe 1,000 more in Canada. The ethnic group are nearly 3,000 people.

Tanana

The Tanana live around the river of the same name, in Central and East Central Alaska. Several languages or dialects are classed: Lower Tanana, Tanacross, Upper Tanana (Nabesna). There may be some 100 speakers of Lower Tanana in a population of 400; and other 200 speakers of Tanacross and Nabesna combined, out of a group of 500.

Tanana herria bizi da izen bereko ibaiaren ibarrean, Alaskako erdialde eta ekialdean. Hizkuntza edo dialekto desberdinak daude, Behe Tanana, Tanacross, Goi Tanana (Nabesna). Behe Tananaz mintzo litezke 100 bat lagun, 400eko talde etnikoan. Tanacross eta Nabesna mintzairak baturik, beste 200 hiztun, 500 laguneko taldean.

Koyukon

The Koyukon or Ten'a people live in Alaska, along the Koyukuk and middle Yukon Rivers. Their Athapaskan language is virtually extinct. Only 20 speakers were left in 1990 out of a population of 2,200.

Ahtna

The Ahtna are one of the native Athapaskan peoples of Alaska. They live in Copper River and adjacent areas in south central Alaska. The language is close to Dena'ina, and is virtually extinct. Only 21 speakers were left in 1990 out of a population of 600.

Tanaina

The Dena'ina were formerly known as Tanaina. Their homeland, called Dena'ina Elnena (Dena'ina Land) in their language lies around Cook Inlet and adjacent area of southern Alaska, the territory where Anchorage is located. Their Athapaskan language, close to Ahtna, is virtually extinct. Only 18 speakers were left in 1990 out of a population of 1,000 people.

Dena'ina herriari lehen Tanaina esaten zitzaion. Beren jatorrizko lurra haien hizkuntzan Dena'ina Elnena da (Dena'ina Lurraldea): Cook Inlet badia eta inguruak hartzen ditu hegoaldeko Alaskan, Anchorage hiria dagoen ingurua.
