Several of you have been kind enough to inform me of the fact that the Mystery Female Asparagus does in fact have a name - Lovey. I realize this name appeared somewhere either on the cover of a cassette or in the credits at the end of a movie. However, this does not change my view on the "mystery", as "lovey" is a term of affection in Great Britain, the obvious country of origin for the asparagus in question. "Lovey" may just be a cover-up for Big Ideas to avoid releasing her given name. Therefore, my theory remains below until a true identity may be found. Thank you for your patience and thoughts on this subject.
Here's My Theory
As you can see and hear, the "mystery asparagus" is plainly different from the only other female asparagus(and one of the few female characters at all); Junior's mom. The female asparagus in question has an English accent, a different hairstyle, and a mole; there is no question the two characters are played by different people - I mean, asparagus' (asparagi?).
There is some confusion over whether or not she is really any relation to Archibald, with whom she appeared in both episodes 2 and 3. It would appear from the casual way she is used in both films that she is simply an "extra"; filling in for roles not appropriate for the previously created and married asparagus, Junior's mom. Therefore, it was necessary to create an additional female to play the companion of Archibald.
In episode one, during the "temple scene", involving Larry as Daniel and Archibald as King Darius, a female asparagus could be seen for a few seconds at a time throughout the scene. Controversy still rages on whether or not she is Junior's mom or the "mystery asparagus". Since VeggieTales was still brand-new and the producers had no idea how carefully they were going to be scrutinized, simple facts like the personal status and name of every minor character were often neglected. (Now, perhaps they will realize their fans want to KNOW these things!) The mole is present (but rumor has it , it has been spotted on Junior's mom also), but the character never speaks, which would lend the determining clue to this small mystery.
Hopefully, further episodes will help clear up some of the confusion over this particular character, and even more hopefully, GIVE HER A NAME!
