Daniel Gullett may have served in the Civil War and died or died right after the war ended. The family story passed down was that Mary Polly Gullett, his daughter, was orphaned during or right after the war and working on a farm when she met Peter. She became pregnant and he did not or would not not marry her. Peter ran off. Sylvania Taulbee, Daniel's second wife, may be the Sylvania Gullett that is on the 1870 and 1880 Pike Co.,OH census. She made an application as a widow of a Daniel Gullett that served in KY during the Civil War. I do not know if this is her or not or who all the other children may be. Some of the older children may be by her and some of the younger ones may be by Daniel and Nancy Wages Gullett's older sons or other relatives. This needs more reserach. The pension application may hold the key to this.

An Ezekiel Gullett made a pension application for a son named Daniel Gullett in Ky also. Ezekiel did have a son Allen David Gullett that served in KY and died in Andersonville prison. The Gulletts in KY seemed to use the name Daniel and David interchangeably. I think this may be for his son Allen but can't be sure. As with Sylvainia's pension application the point of proof by marriage and by wrong unit and company information may be why the pensions were not granted. I will not know this until I look at both pension applications at the National Archives.
