'81 Vette pictures

Taken shortly after I bought this '81 Vette

This is the only picture I could find that shows what color my '81 was when I first purchased it. The paint job was OK but not up to my standards. This car was originally Mahogany Metallic (a color folks either love or hate, I tend to hate it!). Someone painted it this "fleet" white color right before I bought the car.

Parked in the folks driveway

Once the white paint was removed, I discovered that the body/glass was in fair shape. There was some delamination of the factory seams here and there but a little glass work, filler, primer, paint, clearcoat and... Presto! A better looking Corvette.

Another angle

The rather skinny 225 x 70 x 15 tires will soon give way to 255 x 60 x 15 B.F. Goodrich radial T/A's.

Side view

There are so many shades of red available, sometimes it's hard to decide on one looking at color chips. Fortunately, I've grown to really like this 1969 Corvette (Monza Red) color combined with the original tan interior.

Taken at a friends house

One of the few times this Vette has been caught off of pavement during my ownership! (i.e., on gravel....)

One last shot

I don't drive either of my Corvettes in the rain but this one gets driven a little more than my yellow '68. She still runs/drives like a top (has a new engine, rebuilt 4-speed, new brakes, etc.)
