LANGUAGES: Fluent in English and Urdu. Also a good understanding in Dutch and Spanish and a basic understanding in French.

INTERESTS: I have a great ambition to be a professional writer and have already written several short stories, a novelette and a film script, which are all unsold at the moment. I enjoy playing Tennis, Table Tennis, Pool and Cricket. I regularly visit the local cinema and am also a keen photographer.

CAREER SUMMARY: After completing my apprenticeship as an aircraft engineer and gaining several years experience at British Aerospace, I accepted a position in Holland as a Technical Author. As a Technical Author in a large Technical Publications company, I gained invaluable experience in writing, editing, compiling, planning and formatting Technical Documentation to internationally recognized specifications. After leaving Holland I accepted a challenging project to research and produce Service and Training Documentation for a well known American company in Spain.

Work Experience

HEWLETT PACKARD (Barcelona, Spain)

TECHNICAL AUTHOR: NOV 1995 - Present day

As part of the Technical Marketing Department, responsible for managing all Service and Training Documentation requirements for a range of new Printers in the HP DesignJet range. This requires extensive research and involves liaising with other departments, like R & D, Quality, Manufacturing and the Support field to obtain the necessary information and feedback. Also required to manage, when necessary, external writers and illustrators in order to complete tight deadlines. Currently involved in producing on-line and CD-ROM based documentation that includes hyperlinks and video animation for Service and Training purposes. Also responsible for creating Quick Reference Service Documentation which is then localized into the main European and Asian languages to assist non-HP Support Personnel. The Service and Training Documentation contain electrical, software and mechanical details so it is very important to be knowledgeable in all three areas. Documentation produced using the powerful INTERLEAF software package, FrameMaker, Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat. All documentation done to specific requirements and a strict deadline. Also involved in finding new communication tools like interactive CDs for support engineers.



Involved in compiling, writing, editing and planning Service Bulletins and Special Instructions for the Fokker 27, 28, 50 and 100 type aircraft. Re-written Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) chapters for several Service Bulletins. Involved in writing Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) for the FOKKER 50 type aircraft. All FOKKER documentation produced using WANG word processing software and WordPerfect 5.1 and done to ATA 100 Revision 29 and AECMA Simplified English (SE) specifications.

Involved in updating the existing chapters of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) and Structural Repair Manual (SRM) for the PILATUS PCXII aircraft. Also creating new chapters for the IPC to ATA 100 Revision 29 specification. All PILATUS documentation produced using MS Word.

Involved in editing and formatting a series of safety manuals for GKN, the Dutch nuclear power station and various manuals for RAVO and DAF, both Dutch automotive manufacturers. All documentation produced using the powerful INTERLEAF software package and done to the customers specific requirements as well as the CE mark specification.

Involved in planning, editing and producing user and repair manuals for FICO Trim and Form Systems. FICO is a Dutch company which produces hi-tech machinery that trims and forms the legs on micro-processor chips. The manuals contained software, electrical and mechanical information and were produced using MS Word and done to strict customer specifications.

Other projects include the production of Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) for Intertechnique, Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB) for Per Udsen and various user helpcards for Rank Xerox.

BRITISH AEROSPACE PLC (Manchester, England)



Worked on the assembly line for the BAe 146 and ATP. Structural work included the assembly of the tailplane, leading edges and the fuselage for the tailplane and the assembly of the central fuselage for the 146. Mechanical and hydraulic work done on the tailplane, ailerons and fin for the ATP.
