    PETER MACDONALD was educated at London, Oxford and Milan. After early studies with Professor Gordon Phillips, he entered the Royal College of Music studying with Sir George Thalben-Ball, Sir Adrian Boult, Herbert Howells and Patrick Hadley. While at the University of Oxford he took his degrees in performance practice (with Dr. H.K. Andrews, Sir Jack Westrup and, later, Thurston Dart). In Milan (L'Universita' del Sacro Cuore) he studied with Carlo Maria Giulini and conducted at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. His extensive interpretative knowledge of Bach and Mozart was gained by his association with Karl Richter of the Munich Bach Orchestra, both there and in Geneva. As organist, harpsichordist and conductor he has appeared throughout Britain and on the Continent. He has conducted at the South Bank, the Royal Albert Hall and has appeared with the London Mozart Players, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, made numerous recordings, broadcast for the BBC and appeared on Leningrad TV (Kanal DVA) with the Glinka Cappella and the Rimsky-Korsakov Symphony Orchestra (1989). He gave a performance of Bach's "B Minor Mass" in Southwark Cathedral and "The Musical Offering" at St. John's, Smith Square as part of the Tercentenary celebrations. He was Tutor in Harmony and Counterpoint at the Royal College of Music, and Lecturer and visiting examiner at the London College of Music. He conducted the St. Petersburg Philharmonic in the Tchaikovsky Memorial concerts in Russia and is at present guest conductor of St. Peter's College Choir (Glinka Cappella) and to the State Philharmonic Society. His recent engagements have been principally in Switzerland (the Requiem at the Tonhalle, Zurich),Palermo, in Russia and Austria.He is a Doctor laureate in Byzantine and other types of Plainchant
