Ian Daly: My Best Friend
Throughout all the years since sixth grade we have been really great friends. Ian was my biggest crush in middle school, and many people think we have actually "gone out", well, guess what? They are all wrong... Ian knows absolutely everything about me, except for maybe what happened today, because I haven't talked to him a lot today, but anyway, I can tell him absolutely EVERYTHING and he doesn't tell ANYONE. Thanks, buddy ol' pal :).Well, here's the story of our friendship...
I remember the first time I talked to Ian, it was the first day of school in 6th grade accelerated English with Mrs.Spahr. She made us introduce someone in the class and I was paired with Ian. I went in front of the class and pronounced his name wrong and the people that knew him laughed at me... I called him "eye-an" instead of "ee-an", do you know what I mean? Well, after that I somehow produced a crush on him that lasted the rest of that school year and the next and I stalked him pretty much. I used to chase him around at the MMS dances and I remember he ran into the guys' bathroom once, oh my.. Then, I called him all the time and asked him if he would "go out" with me, and he would always say no for some reason... Then, we started talking a lot and became the best of friends. When 8th grade came around we hung out all the time, then Ian met my best friend Kim, and then he had this huge crush on her, and that made feel really jealous. But then we all three became best friends. High School band came around and we were together even more. We had Honors Geometry with Jenkins and that was a quality entertainment class with Ian and Jenkins arguing about Washington State, and how both of us did poorly, me, because I gave up trying to understand and, Ian, because he was just plain lazy... he is a BIG procrastinator.. sorry, Ian, but you have to admit..
Well, we have had endless conversations about EVERYTHING, one time we stayed up and just tried to remember a bunch of things from the 80's from our childhood days.. that was funny, like "Today's Special" and "Rainbow Brite"... Then, last year I went through hell, everything just seemed like shit, I was in a great state of depression, and Ian was the only person I felt i could trust. Rumors were spread around school, and I never heard the end of it, some of my friends just stopped talking to me, or if they did talk about me it was behind my back, but Ian didn't. He was a true-blue friend and he always has been. My parents were going through a bunch of crap and still are. I met some other cool people like the Diehlmobile Gang members and went on with my life thanks to them and Ian, I made it through it all. I got over "the big crush of three years" (that was the biggest waste of my time) after I met someone special thanks I think to Ian, and that was Matt.. Ian told Matt that he would have no trouble finding a girlfriend this year, this was at the trumpet camp they went to in Athens together and they became good friends.
I remember telling Ian that I was going to get to know Matt somehow and he was going to become one of my good friends. Well, this didn't happen really until about 5 months ago.. but Ian was right, Matt had no trouble finding a girlfriend, I absolutely fell for him, and I think Ian has a lot to do with this, so thanks buddy, once again. I bet Ian knew that that girlfriend he was talking about was going to be me because he knows me so well..
Well, today, Ian tends to tease me constantly about DQ and he tries to tell me that Burger King is so great. We still talk about everything, and by the way girls he is single and he is awesome! Ian needs a woman. I had to do it Ian, sorry..I have decided that he is definitely my best friend now, and will hopefully be a friend for life. Ian thanks for everything and I love ya man!
