Michael Kamen (keyboards)

A very good keyboardist, although now he's very much into soundtracks. I first heard him while he played in David Bowie band in 1974. He has composed the soundtracks for the Lethal weapon movies with Eric Clapton and David Sanborn. From time to time, he still appears live with Clapton or Sanborn, especially if Clapton plays with an orchestra, where Michael Kamen usually writes the arrangements. He started playing with the New York Rock Ensemble (playing oboe and keyboards). Another soundtrack by Eric Clapton is Homeboy (1989, with Steve Ferrone).

He played with Roger Waters in The Wall performance in Berlin in July 1990. This was the lineup for The Bleeding Heart Band:

The list of guest artists appearing is (taken from my videotape): Rundfunkorchester Berlin, Rundfunkchor Berlin, The Hooters, Scorpions, Ute Lemper, Cyndi Lauper, Thomas Dolby, Sinnead O'Connor, The Band, Marianne Faithfull, Rupert Everett, the great Joni Mitchell, James Galway, Bryan Adams, Jerry Hall, Paul Carrack, The Marching Band of the combined soviet forces in Germany, Van Morrison, Tim Curry, Albert Finney. The conductor was Michael Kamen.

In 1994, Roger Daltrey made a tour, as "A celebration: the music of Townsend & The Who", with this lineup:

Plus an orchestra arranged by Michael Kamen. They released an album, with guest stars: Pete Townsend, John Entwistle, David Sanborn, The Chieftains, etc.

During 1999, Metallica recorded a live album with orchestra, directed by ... of course, Michael Kamen. The double album is called S&M. Michael Kamen has also played in some of the promoting concerts, such as in Berlin (November 1999)
