PATIH GAJAHMADA

..

.Burung Garuda Pancasila.

Hi, before I start, I would like to tell you why do I like him, as I have been getting lots of mail asking just that. I like him, because he was very hard working, resourceful, inspirational, and powerful. I even dare to say that without him, the Majapatit kingdom was NOTHING.

However, before I tell you anything else, please bear with me here. I was, and still am, looking for the resources of this material. Therefore, this page is not complete yet, and still under construction. However, I have managed to slip so few information about this historical figure (might not be as accurate, though). :-(

SO, if you know anything about this figure, please e-mail me. Thank you for your coorperation.

This is not Gajahmada's picture, as I cannot find it anywhere.

A long time ago (about 1300-1400 A.D., anyone know the exact time? Please e-mail me) in Java island, there were many kingdoms. Majapahit was one of them. Gajah Mada served under Majapahit Kingdom for three generations. He became the prime minister of the kingdom, under the rule of king Hayam Wuruk, and made an oath not to eat "Buah Pala" (his favorite fruit) until he was able to unite the "UNIVERSE" under Majapahit's flag.

He, conquered Pasundan Kingdom, and managed to control the whole Java island. Next, he expanded the empire to the Malay Peninsula, and pushed on to Srilanka (They only defeated the pirates, or what they tought as pirates, and looted their base, or villages). However, he was not able to conquer Thailand, land of the white (holy) elephant. After that, he moved east, conquering what is now the Philippines.

He did not stop just there. His kingdom spanned from Srilanka to Papua Newguinea (could somebody run a check on this?). After a life long war campaign, he died, buried with his dream of uniting the universe. Although he conquered so many lands, he had never eaten the "Buah Pala," even to his death. He was the first person in Indonesian history to unite Indonesia, almost uniting the whole South East Asia.

One of my friends told me that Gajah Mada was born in Medan, North Sumatra. I am not sure if this one is right. Can anyone verify, or disprove this? Although some very interesting arguement have come, and say that it is almost impossible for a non-Java to hold any title in a Javanese Kingdom. However, I'll keep the information there until I know exactly where he was born. So, Please help me.

Please help me complete this page!
