Freely inspired from the short story by Philip K. Dick "Do androids dream of electric sheep ?", this film is the masterpiece of Riddley Scott who also directed "Alien", "Black Rain", and "Thelma and Louise".
Scott succeed in making a futurist world which is a bit gloomy, with a lot of darkness and and often falling rain.
The plot.
In 2019, in Los Angeles
In this future, biotechnlogy as allowed to make human like beings which are called "The replicants" made by the "Tyrrel corporation" who replace humans in dangerous place such as colinization of remote planete. But many of them, using their human looking tries to escape on Earth, that is why Blade Runners exist : they are a kind of police whose aim is to locating and eliiminating the replicants. The film is the story of Deckard, a Blade Runner chasing the last replicant model : the Nexus 5. These replicants are : ( Ok I forgot then name of the one who is played by Johanna Cassidy but that was long since the last TV broadcast)
So the film is the chase of these replicants because to quote with Deckard
"If your not the hunter you are the prey" (or something like
this), allowing to the spectator to travel in this dark but also fascinating
future. A travel which has a quite beautiful and philosophical end.
