Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not
so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
This is one of my most favorite prayers. My favorite saints are St. Jude (the patron saint of impossible causes), St. Anthony (the patron saint of lost items), St. Joseph (the patron saint of families), and St. Anne (the mother of the Blessed Virgin) and St. Frances of Asissi (the patron saint of animals).
This prayer is often sung in Mass following Holy Communiion. It was sung in the Mass held at the divorce ministry I was involed from 1991 to 1996. I really miss that ministry. I met many wonderful people through BE that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
