| Wishing I were here The day hangs like a wet turtleneck On a wire hanger When, having no change for the machines It has to remain damp It flops sloppily upon the bed Wrinkles forming from the careless throw Lines drawn in noisy creases A spot revealed at every touch Wet, warm, warm and wet It sticks to backs and armpits The sky's humidity not letting it dry. Its own dampness making the air unbreatheable It's finally pulled, moist and heavy, along the floor Picking up yesterday's dirt And dragging it into tomorrow -Melissa Gawlowski- |
