After Stonehenge, we headed off to Avebury. It is pretty amazing. Even though much of it has been removed, what is left is very impressive. Avebury is one big circle of huge rocks, about a mile in circumference, containing two smaller circles.
David informed us that Avebury, Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral all lie on the same "ley" line. We did a bit of "dowsing" with two pieces of copper wire to feel the energy there. It has been estimated that more than 1,700,000 man hours went into constructing it.
