Welcome to the Dickson County Adult Education Program. Congratulations on your decision to return to school. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to supporting you and your educational goals.

Adult education teachers have wide experience and participate in a continuous program of in-service and professional development activities. All teachers are college graduates and have a current Tennessee teacher's certificate.


Admission Requirements
Students must be at least 18 years of age and not presently enrolled in school.

Costs
There is no charge for adult education classes. Books for General Education Development (GED) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) are provided without cost to students as well. Books are issued after the student has been in attendance for 12 hours.

Minimum Number of Students
Classes that do not have a minimum of 10 enrolled students are subject to cancellation.

Children in Class
Students enrolled in adult education classes are not permitted to bring children to class with them. Children may not be left unattended in other areas of the building or in the parking lot.

Telephone
The hall telephone is for emergency use only. Class time is for educational purposes and not for socialization via the telephone.

Smoking
The Dickson County Board of Education has banned smoking in and around all school buildings including the Burns Adult Learning Center.

Food and Drink
No food and drinks are allowed in the computer lab. Individual teachers have their own policies in their classrooms.
