Pattern Written in Australian Terminology (USA version below)

Hook - 4.0
Yarn - 8 ply . scraps of 3 colours (A=white, B=black and C=olive green if you want it the same as the picture)
dtr = double treble (yo 2times, pull up a loop, yo pull through 2 loops, yo pull through 2 loops, yo pull through last 2 loops)

Using colour A, ch 5, join with a slst to form a ring.

Round 1. 1ch. Working in ring - 1dc, 1ch (to count as first tr) 3tr, 2ch, (4tr, 2ch) three times. Join with a slst to top of beg. 1dc, 1ch. FO.

Round 2. Join colour B in any 2ch space. 1dc, 1ch (to count as first tr) 3tr, 2ch, 4tr in same space. (1 ch, 4tr, 2ch, 4tr all in next space) 3 times. 1ch, join with a slst to top of beg. 1dc, 1ch. FO.

Round 3. Join colour C in any 2ch space. 2dc. (3dtr, 3ch, 3dtr in next 1ch space. 3dc in next 2ch space) 3 times. 3dtr, 3ch, 3dtr in next 1ch space. 1dc in next 2ch space (same space as first 2dc), join with a slst to beg. 1dc.

Round 4. 1ch. 1dc, 1ch in same st as joining. 1tr in next dc. * 1tr in each of next 3 dtr. 3tr, 2ch, 3tr in 3ch sp. 1tr in each of next 3 dtr 1tr in each of next 3 dc * rpt from * to * twice. 1tr in each of next 3 dtr. 3tr, 2ch, 3tr in 3ch sp. 1tr in each of next 3 dtr, 1tr in next dc, Join with a slst to beg. dc. FO. (should be 15 tr along each side)

Round 5. Using colour B, join in any corner 2ch sp. 3dc in same space. Work 1dc in each of next 15 tr, 3dc in corner space . continue around. Join with a slst to beg, dc. FO

Round 6. Using colour A, Join in middle dc of any corner, 1ch. 1dc, 1ch (counts as first tr) 1tr, 2ch, 2tr in same st. * 1tr in each of next 17dc. 2tr, 2ch, 2tr in next (middle) dc. * rpt from * to * twice. 1tr in each of next 17dc. Join with a slst to beg 1dc, 1ch. FO

Round 7. Using colour C, join in any stitch and work a round of dc (1dc in each tr, and 3dc in each corner sp, same as for round 5). FO.

Weave in loose ends (if u have not already done that as u go )

Note - last 3 rounds can be changed if square is not the correct size (work round 5 in tr, like in round 6, if square is too small ... or work round 6 in dc, like in round 5, if square is too big )

Yarn - sport of worsted should work I hope (the yarn I used for this pattern is what I use when I am crocheting a USA pattern that asks for worsted weight yarn, so logic says it should work the other way around) - scraps of 3 colours (A=white, B=black and C=olive green if you want it the same as the picture)
