Acknowledgements and Sources
The primary source of information for this web site comes from "A History of Bear Creek Baptist Church, 1851 - 1962", a complilation by Rev. Reed Dicken Jr. which was completed and published December 24, 1962.  Rev. Dicken's compilation was accomplished by searching the churches available records, research at the Mississippi Baptist Historical Commission Library, researching the minutes of the various Baptist Associations (as noted below), and by talking with residents that had knowledge of events for which there were no records.  All church records prior to 1905 no longer exist.

In the Forward of "A History of Bear Creek Baptist Church, 1851 - 1962", Rev. Dicken acknowledged the contribution of Mrs. Julia Wade Miller of Amarillo, Texas, who furnished materials which he used in preparation of the church's history, particularly the early years of the church.

We are indebted to Rev. Reed Dicken for the time and effort he spent in researching and compiling the data and for his countless hours of work in completing this worthy project. His attention to detail and his unflinching devotion to producing a quality product  are evident in the finished work.  I owe a particular debt of gratitude to Rev. Dicken for creating the data and material without which I could not have created this web site in commemoration of the Bear Creek Baptist Church, Attala County, Mississippi.  The Rev. Reed Dicken, Jr. passed away this past year.  His wife preceded him by one year.  May the Rev. Reed Dicken, Jr. and his wife enjoy a special place in God's Heaven.  May the good Lord bless and keep thee now and always.

I would also like to thank and recognize Ms. Ann Breedlove, Genealogy Clerk, Attala County Library, Kosciusko, Mississippi for her able assistance and her gracious, always willing to help attitude.
