Linda Armstrong
Author of Tanya's Desert Star and Other Stories for Young People
I live in Western Colorado now, but I lived most of my life in Los Angeles. I have been a writer as long as I can remember. I taught elementary school for 18 years in Los Angeles. I also served as a Language Devleopment Resource Teacher in the school library.
In addition to
Tanya's Desert Star I have written magazine stories and articles for teachers.
In 2001 I started writing material to help children learn to read. Look for books in Disney's Parent and Child Read Together Series from McGraw Hill at Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, and other fine book sellers. The books use a time-tested list of words to lead preschoolers into the world of the written word. I have also written many reproducible books for classroom use,  including three history titles from Milliken, fourth and fifth grade algebra books from Frank Shaeffer, a workbook for SRA McGraw-Hill, and many others scheduled to appear from McGraw-Hill Children's Books, Evan Moor, Carson Dellosa, and Mark Twain in 2004.
I am also a
painter and photographer, though I have not had much time to do either one lately.
