Summary: The bizarre entity called Eon draws Mar-Vell out of a life-or-death battle with the Controller to grant him the one weapon that may allow him to challenge the plans of the mad god Thanos: cosmic awareness. Following a series of surreal psychological and physical challenges, Captain Marvel undergoes yet another transformation.

Continuity: Mar-Vell is still linked to Rick Jones. Along with the acquisition of "cosmic awareness," his physique changes somewhat and his hair goes blond.

Comments: The legendary, epic battle between Captain Marvel and Thanos is a great showcase for Jim Starlin's amazing artistic chops. I personally don't care for the dry tone and five-cent philosophy, but I won't deny Starlin his place in the Hall of Fame for his groundbreaking work.
