"Meeting of the Minds" (1982/06/01) from Marvel Team-Up 118 (June 1982)

Summary: Spider-Man hitches a ride when Professor X is lured into the home of Professor Power. Power’s henchman, the Fixer, traps Xavier so that X’s mental powers can be siphoned off to revive Mentallo.

Continuity: Using the alias "Mr. Fix," the Fixer agrees to work for Power in hopes of reviving the comatose Mentallo. Norbert is beaten by Spider-Man, arrested and sent to Leavenworth Prison, from which he soon escapes.

Comments: Despite the convoluted motivation this is a pretty straightforward story. The Fixer is surprisingly physical in his one-on-one with Spidey. Xavier’s astral battle with Mentallo looks like a warmed over Dr. Strange nightmare. Stupidest moment: Mentallo’s long-winded explanation as he falls back into a coma.
