"Visiting Hours!" (1983/02/01) from Marvel Two-In-One 96 (February 1983)

Summary: While laid up in the hospital, the Thing is beset by dozens of super-villains. His super-hero friends defend him. Prominent characters include Captain America, Daredevil, the Grapplers (including Screaming Mimi), Mirage, the Mole Man, the Sandman, Spider-Man, the Thinker, Thor and the X-Men.

Continuity: Screaming Mimi has her first battle with Captain America. Following this adventure, the Grapplers are returned to prison. Once they have fully "paid their debt to society," they return to professional wrestling.

The Beetle appears in two panels and looks different in each: One is his old armor, the second a variation. As that armor was destroyed and this Beetle does not fly, I have a personal theory that it is someone else in costumes that Abner has abandoned.

Comments: This adventure is supposed to be light-hearted and offbeat, but it’s just stupid. Villains crawl out of the woodwork with unspecified plans to kill the Thing, never suspecting that they will be stopped within a couple of panels by some hero who happens to be on the scene. Screaming Mimi puts on a decent show in her brief bout with Captain America, and also has the pleasure of being zapped by the Scarlet Witch.
