"Prisons" (1986/02/01) from Iron Man 206 (May 1986)
Reader Rating: Average; Thunderbolts Interest: Medium
Summary: When a lawyer forces the West Coast Avengers to release Goliath, the big guy goes after Hawkeye and Mockingbird. It’s a good thing Iron Man is on hand to handle him!
Continuity: Freed from his WCA holding cell, Goliath squares off with Hawkeye. Erik's eyes are no longer ablaze, and there is no indication that he has super-speed. Following his defeat Erik is put back in the adamantium cell, and the cell itself turned over to local authorities.
Comments: This is a stronger story than "When Giants Walk the Earth" ( 1984/09/02 ), with solid art work and a competent script. But it does have its share of logical lapses: Why doesn’t Tony Stark’s Iron Man use the same technique to beat Goliath that Jim Rhodey did? And, again, how is Erik talked down to normal size to fit into his cell?
