"Battle of the Sexes!" (1986/04/01) from The Thing 33 (March 1986)

Summary: Battleaxe, a female wrestler, challenges the Thing to a grudge match.

The original Scourge kills Titania.

The wrestlers sport these unappealing names: The Grapplers (Letha, Poundcakes, Titania, and Screaming Mimi), Auntie Freeze, Butterball, Golddigger, Magilla, and Vavavoom.

Continuity: The Grapplers are legit again having, as Titania says, "paid their debt to society." Mimi appears in a few panels, but doesn’t speak – or scream. Some time later, Scourge kills Letha, as well. This may be the event that drives Mimi away from professional wrestling and into the influence of Helmut Zemo.

Comments: Despite crude art and the campy plot, there’s a thoughtfulness to Mike Carlin’s script that makes this better than dreck.
