"And Now The…Night Shift!" (1989/01/01) from West Coast Avengers 40 (January 1989)

Summary: The WCA have disassembled into two teams. When Mockingbird puts the monstrous Digger behind bars, the rest of the nutty Night Shift mistakenly attack the Avengers compound to force his release.

The WCA are Hawkeye, the Scarlet Witch, the Vision and Wonder Man. Mockingbird works separately with Moon Knight and Tigra. The Night Shift are The Brothers Grimm, Dansen Macabre, Gypsy Moth, Misfit, Needle, Tatterdemalion, Tick-Tock, and the Werewolf. Their leader, Shroud, shows up late.

Continuity: While the Shroud's away, Sybil helps the Night Shift make their own, rather questionable, decisions, leading to the first meeting between Hawkeye and Gypsy Moth.

Comments: Competent, with a few nice touches.  I love Hawkeye’s mistake of trying to stop Gypsy Moth by gluing her wings (which are strictly ornamental), but hate that the Avengers’ security system can’t keep the third-rate Night Shift out of the compound.
