Acts of Vengeance: "Tales from the Vault" (1989/12/01) from Avengers Spotlight 26 (December 1989)

Summary: A mysterious stranger helps the Wizard lead a break-out from the Vault. Hawkeye and Iron Man reach the scene to try to salvage the situation. Significant appearances by the Guardsman, Orka, the Scarecrow, and the Wizard. Cameos from the the Armadillo, Angar, Electro, Griffin, Hydro-Man, Klaw, Mr. Hyde, Titania, and Yetrigar.

Continuity: Hawkeye takes time off from training the Great Lakes Avengers to appear in the opening installment of "Acts of Vengeance," and rejoins them afterwards.

Although not shown, Goliath and Screaming Mimi are freed during the break-out. On the outside, Mimi meets with Angar. The pair discover that their screams, joined together, give them the ability to create illusions and go on a (rather unimaginative) crime spree. (Source: "Denver Doubles", 1990/01/02).

Comments: There is some decent writing here – especially in the tense relationship between Hawk and IM – but the art is unacceptably crude.
