Prelude to the Thunderbolts (1996/11/00)

Notes: Erik vanishes from the prison hospital, drawn back to Kosmos. Zemo, working from his sub-basement hideout, stumbles across Erik’s whereabouts and recruits the Fixer to help recover him. As the Fixer works, Zemo goes about recruiting other members.

As Screaming Mimi and Angar flee a bank job, Angar is shot and apparently killed. Mimi screams her voice raw. Zemo brings Mimi and Angar’s body back to his hideout, where the Fixer rebuilds Mimi’s bionic throat implants and creates the carapace that transforms her into Songbird. The Fixer extracts Angar’s vocal chords for experimentation.

Zemo recruits the Beetle following another of Abe’s embarrassing misadventures. The Fixer and Abe develop the MACH-1 armor.
