Steve Richardson is an apostolic musical evangelist.
He has had his songs recorded by many well-known people in Gospel Music.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir,
the Gaither Vocal Band, Vicki
Yoh’e, the Talleys, the Cathedrals, JCM
Mass Choir and others have recorded Steve’s songs. Probably his most
well-know song is "Daystar:" "Daystar shine down on me, let Your
love shine through me, in the night."
HeartSongs Steve's most recent solo project is called "HeartSongs." This album is a real treasure. Although not all the songs on this album are as well known as Steve’s song "Daystar" they should be. Backed by rich musical arrangements and vocalized by Steve Richardson’s own unique voice, the highlight of these songs are the beautiful lyrics. "Just to walk with Him" is known as Steve’s testimony and the haunting lyrics sum up what being a Christian is all about. "Just to walk with Him means everything to me, just to know He’s near - His hand is leading me, though the world pass me by, go their way, let me be, just to walk with Him means everything to me. "Daystar" has a tenderness that none of the well known versions possess. "Jesus is here, anything can happen" was inspired by Rev. Lee Stoneking’s favorite catch phrase, the jubilant chorus reminds us "anything can happen when the Lord is here." "He took the law into His own hands" is an incredibly emotional moment as Steve tells us, "He took the law into His own hands, he took the nails and His own blood and signed redemption’s plan." The now famous "Mercy Seat"---a theme song of the Brownsville Revival---is lovingly arranged here. Steve co-wrote this song with Mark Carouthers and Jeffrey Harpole. Can one ever tire of a song that is so full of truth? "Jesus said you could come into His presence without fear, into the Holy place, where his mercy hovers near, come running, come running, come running to the mercy seat, where Jesus is calling, his grace will be a covering, His blood will flow freely, it will provide a healing, come running to the mercy seat." The only low point on the album is the hyper jazzy version of "Hallelujah, I will praise Him" which doesn’t have the majesty of the Talley’s version. Other touching songs included on this project include: "One," Boldly Come Before the Throne," "Lead Us," "Jesus Loves Me . . . This I Know," and "Somewhere Tonight." If you are a Steve Richardson fan, you owe it to yourself to order his album. If you like some of these songs listen to them sung directly from the source. This is not a youth party album, or background noise, but it is a devotional work of art that ministers like a powerful church service. Steve was raised in the Oneness Apostolic Holiness tradition.
His home church is Calvary Tabernacle
in Indianapolis, where Paul Mooney is Pastor. I have been privileged to
hear Steve minister in music many times and each time was a blessing.
HEARTSONGS I was four years old when I sang my first solo at church. They stood me up on the old altar rail and I sang, "It Is No Secret What God Can Do." It was true back then. And, it is still true so many years later. I loved to sing because, when I closed my eyes, I saw myself singing directly to Jesus: a private audience at the throne of the Great King. So, as I grew older, it seemed natural to create music in my heart, and words to and about the One I had come to know as Savior, Friend and Lord. And God claimed these for his own. How humbling it is to think that He has used this vessel and these songs in ways I never could have imagined - to bring glory to Himself. May they be a blessing to you. Thousands of years ago, another songwriter name David said, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices and with my song I will praise Him." (Psalm 28:7) Amen. -Steve Richardson For information about booking Steve or to order his projects
