"I have never been hurt by anything I didn't say" a side note on this Ed (one the authors of this page) used this quote in his salutatorian speech at high school graduation. "No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave." “There is no right to strike against the public safety by anybody, anywhere, anytime.” - From Mark and Ed "And be brief; above all things, Be Brief." Source: Speech to the Massachusetts Senate, January 1915 "Prosperity is only an instrument to be used, not a deity to be worshipped." Source: Speech in Boston, June 11, 1928 ". . . the chief business of the American people is business." Source: Speech to the American Society of Newspaper Editors, Washington D.C., Jan. 17,1925 - Sent in by Melissa Hueting "Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent genius will not; un-rewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." - Sent in by Thomas Hillis
"The man who builds a factory builds a temple.
And the man who works there worships there."
- Sent in by Steve Hamilton "It takes a great man to be a good listener." Grace and Calvin were touring a chicken farm when they came upon a rooster who was on top of a hen. Grace turned to the farmer and asked, "Does he do that often?" The farmer replied, "Yes mam, everyday." She then said, "Tell that to the President." The embarrassed farmer told Calvin, "Mrs. Coolidge said to tell you he does that every day." Without missing a beat, Calvin asked, "With the same hen?" The farmer said, "No." To which Calvin stated, "Tell THAT to Mrs. Coolidge." -This was in the book FIRST LADIES by Carl S. Anthony. I forgot who sent it to us.
