Cardiology Service Evaluation:
Diagnoses:
#1 Tricuspid valve dysplagia (congenital)
#2 Low normal fractional shortening
Presenting Problems/Complaints:
Four year old intact female curly coated retriever presenting to WSU VTH Cardiology for follow up evaluation of a 1/1V systolic tricuspid valve murmer identified
by Dr. Gary Wood on 1/22/05.
Results of Evaluation:
She weighed 73 lbs and had a body condition score of 4/5. Mucous membranes were pink and moist, and capillary refill time was less than two seconds. Heart rate
was 96 beats per minute, and respiratory rate was 25 breaths per minute.
Cardiovascular exam: A grade 11/V1 systolic murmer was heard loudest a the right sternal base.
Results of Diagnostic evaluation:
*Echocardiography: Trace mitral valve regurgitation, mild/moderate tricuspid valve regurgitation, tricuspid valve dysplagia, mild right atrial and ventricular
enlargement. Fractional shortening 24%
*Blood Pressure: 125 mmHg (systolic)
Due to the heritable nature of tricuspid valve dysplagia, we recommend hat she not be used for breeding purposes.
We recommend a reched echocardiogram in one year to monitor changes in contractility.
