I asked her how it effected her Psoriasis she
stated "As for how it affected me,
my P was horrible broken out during the beginning
of our troubles.
I would say I had about 8% coverage but it
was large, itchy spots.
I began taking antidepressants myself because
my emotions were so out of
control, I couldn't function at all.
Around the time I really started to feel
better emotionally, I noticed that my P began
clearing up. By the way, I was
involved with the hospital study at the time
so I was not able to use any
medications or moisturizers other than what
was provided by the study. I was
involved with 2 studies, the first medication
was a gel steroid and worked well,
the second one was a mousse applied to the
body steroid and did not have any
affect on me.
Currently I have noticed that a few spots of
P are popping out, on my hands,
face, arms, and legs, but I think is just
because I have been under cover all
winter and it's just that time for me.
I'm really looking forward to spring and
getting some sun. " She would also like to
thank everyone who kept her in their thoughts
and prayers that helped get through
this difficult time. You will continue to be in our thoughts Carrie.

Then have it blown up to a 9
inch square. You can do this at you local copy center. Which I think is
alot eaiser. So the porportions are exactly right. Also before you
sign your name and message to you block get some freezer paper and iron
it on to the back of the muslin . This will stabilize your signature and
make it easier to write on. After signing you can take the freezer paper
off. Make sure you use an indelable pen thats perminate .If you have the
skills to embrodry your name you can do that too. Please use 100% cotton
fabrics for your corner peices. Blocks can be hand or machine pieced.
and dont forget at least 1/2 inch seam allowances. If for some reason you
can not do the block but would like to have a block in the quilt please
contact me at claranielsen@iwon.com
If you have any problems you
can email me at the above email address. I am only using that email for
our project. Any money raised will go to help send one or several of our
members to the National Psoriasis Foundations National Convention in San
Francisco in 2001 to present the quilt. If for some reason we can not raise
the money or something happens that we can not present in San Francisco
then it will be sent or presented in Portland, any funds left over will
go to NPF's Discovery fund for research.

My heart is not
filled yet it is
yelling for someone
to come see me
be with me
hold me see me
for me not for
anyone but me
yet all I am yelling
for is a angel to sweep
me off my feet to take the
pain away just set me
free....
All your hurts,
I will heal.
I will gather the herbs that strengthen,
I will blend the medicine that cures,
I will smooth on the balm that soothes your
being--
the ointment that relieves your being of its
pain.
I will chant over you the words of healing--
the secret words--
the words of yourself--
and opening my veins,
I will let pulse out into you
my strength--
my lifeforce--
its beat keeping the rhythm
of the song that I will sing to you--
the song of your soul.
I will stand over you in your weakness--
guard you in your weakness--
fire will shoot from my eyes,
swords from my mouth,
as my determination shields you
from all that threatens--
from all that may do you harm.
I will stand over you
until you are strong,
until you are wholly you again--
the healer who healed me--
the warrior who protected me
when it was I who was in pain and alone.

Stares and Whispers
Stares and whispers everywhere I go
Is that a look of fear I see in
your eyes?
Are you are afraid to ask or
afraid to know?
Stares and whispers everywhere I go
Children's question's are so innocent
to see,
Then then parent grabs the child
stares and runs to flee.
Stares and whispers everywhere I go
"I yell it is not leprosy! "
"What I have you can not get from me!"
Stares and whispers everywhere I go
You see I have this disease, I want you to
know
It is called Psoriasis and you can not catch
it
from me.
I try to hide it so it will not show.
Stares and whispers everywhere I go
Please ask me and do not stare
My feelings get hurt and I do care.
Please don't whisper behind my back
I hear everything and wonder about the nerve
you lack.
Someday I hope not to feel
Stares and whispers everywhere I go.
