Dry picking at Harju Brothers Bogs

Middleboro, Massachusetts

Larry and Jane Harju, who are our neighbors, have truly showcase bogs next to and behind their home. They are always carefully tended and are as weed-free as  cranberry bogs can be. It's been some six years since these bogs were dry harvested. I was driving by earlier today and saw the crew hard at work dry picking, and Jane equally hard at work at the grill preparing the lunchtime barbeque. I drove home to get my camera, and here are the results.

Why bother with a helicopter
when you can hire members of the
Bridgewater-Raynham wrestling team
for the back-breaking job of lifting the heavy
berry sacks off the bogs?
