West Virginia Mining Disasters
I cannot believe that I am now updating this page again to add another mine disaster and its just the first month of 2006. Already there has been two fatal mine accidents that have took the lives of 14 miners and January isnt even over yet.
Our Governor has "PROMISED" that laws are going to change to to ensure that this kind of thing may never happen again. Lets hold him to it. Dont let the polititions forget. If need be, march on Charleston and Washington. If more stricter laws are made and "ENFORCED" then that would mean that these fourteen did not die in vain.
West Virginia Mining Disasters
I am the wife of a retired Coal Miner. This is my tribute page to West Virginia Coal Miners who lost their lives in mines. This is by no means all that have died. But just a small number that are documented.
Most of these records were copied from the newspaper, courtesy of West Virginia Office of Miners Health Safety and Training. As you can see as you read below when there are several deaths in a single mining accident, most of the time they are caused by explosions. A miners worst fear.
