Richard Andrew Patterson was born in 1970 and has lived primarily in Melbourne, Australia. Growing up in the country Victorian town of Benalla- Patterson has worked various occupations including managing a youth recreation center, factory technician, army reserve soldier and a service consultant in the banking industry.

In October of 1997 Patterson first accused Francis Thompson of being Jack the Ripper. Patterson's first book 'Paradox' and his subsequent works on his Thompson-Ripper theory are all from his manuscript with the working title of

'Murder in Whitechapel the Paradox of Francis Thompson and the Patterson Paraidgm'.

In 2001 Patterson went to London where time was devoted to researching his theory - gaining valuable material. Upon returning to Melbourne Patterson completed his Bachelor of Arts at La Trobe University. He gained a Major in Philosophy and a Minor in English. Patterson went on to study at the University of Melbourne where he gained a Diploma of Education in Secondary English and Drama. He also writes novels, short stories, essays, and poetry and is a computer graphic artist. In 2004 Patterson works and lives in London. Where he is a writer and English teacher.
