ALL ABOUT ME

I am Nicki. I am a 43 year old mom.

As if the holiday season in 1996 wasn't hectic enough, I took a part time job at the local Pack 'N Mail in November. In January of 1997 I became a full time employee and the manager. I found a better paying full time job in July 1997 with STAR 105.7, a local radio station. You can see my resume here. In July of 1998, after working back at Pack & Mail for a few months, I started working at Samscreen. While I made some great contributions to the team at Samscreen, I was offered a position with a local children's museum that was too good to be true.

I became the Director of Development & Public Relations for The Discovery Center in June 1999. While I did love working at The Discovery Center, I soon decided all my direct sales experience was calling me to work for myself. I soon took up freelancing from home and have been doing it since March 2000.

I have to mention the first place I ever went on the world wide web. I often was found chatting at Parents' Place when I was first online. If you want to find me these days, you go to my chat page to see where I might be.

I decided in 1987 that being a full-time mom was important to me. In 1989 I needed more to keep myself sane or maybe to drive myself insane so I became an Educational Consultant with Discovery Toys. I did stop this for two years but love it so much that I have begun again. If you are looking for quality educational toys, books and software, please let me know. I have spent time with my daughters as a Girl Scout Leader. I have been interested in the environment from my earliest days. I have a degree in forestry from Paul Smith's College. After my two years in the Adirondack mountains, I left for West Virginia University where I did what all college students do, changed my major a sememster before graduating. Long before curbside recycling came to our area, I was making trips to the recycling center with our recycling. Broome County New York has approximately a 58% recycling record. That is 58% of our waste does not end up at our landfill. In September 2002, Broome County became the first county in New York State to go to single stream recycling, meaning you do not have to separate your different types of recyclables. Think what you can do in your community. I also have had several compost piles. This is a great way to have soil for your garden and reduce the waste you put out also.
