| 1. The Summer 2008 Graduations on Wednesday, September 3 and Saturday, September 6 went well. The East Boston Center had over 250 people receive diplomas in English I, II, Computer I, II, GED, Citizenship, and CDL (Truck Permit) Classes. If you would like to attend any graduation as a student or benefactor, please give us a call at 617-567-7873. 2. On November 15 and 16 2007, the Center's Director, Dominic Avellani, received the Caring Foundation Award for having assisted over 40,000 immigrants, refugees, and U.S. School dropouts over the past 35 years (1972-2007). The events were held in Washington DC at the Frederick Douglas Museum and other locations. The link to the Boston Globe article is here. 3. The next trip to New Hampshire is October 25-26, 2008. Please sign up in the East Boston main office ASAP, or call (617) 567-7873. 4. Concerning computer classes, the East Boston Center has begun teaching a class for the CompTIA A+ Exam, which is a certification for a hardware computer technician. Mr. Renato Avellani is CompTIA A+, Network+, and Server+ Certified and is eager to teach the class. 5. The next GED testing date is October 11, 2008. GED in English students are studying for the Social Studies exam. Testing is at 8:15 AM. It is at the Madison Park School in Roxbury. Students must meet in front of the East Boston Center at 7:45 AM. They can travel in their own car or ride in one of the two center's vehicles. The students must bring 2 number 2 pencils and positive ID, such as a driver's license, a state ID, or a passport.
