|Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell|
|This is quite clearly the greatest book ever written. With gripping intensity, philosophical ponderings, relevance to real world issues and a powerful ending. Nothing can beat it..... unless you fancy a laugh.
And not only that, but now you can read it for free! If you are in Canada, Australia or Russia then the book is in the public domain! So here it is! The greatest story ever told!

|Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk||The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester|
|Remember that fantastic film called Fight Club? Well the book was even better so hah! But what is amazing is that the follow-up is even better. This book about the internal struggle of last survivor of a death cult is quite amazing. Don't be fooled into thinking this is some book about a bloke who mopes around self-consiously. This is a roller coaster of a book!|
|Possibly the best sci-fi book ever written. Confusingly this hasn't been made into a film. If anyone out there does intend to make this into a film then please please please don't keep those stupid names based on places. A bad guy called Dagenham is kind of offputting, even if he IS radioactive. Apart from that this is fantastic! Exciting and thought-provoking just as science fiction should be.|
|The Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy
by Douglas Adams (a series of five books)
|101 Philosophy Problems by Martin Cohen|
|Never has a book had such a perfect approach to philosophy. While never quite taking itself seriously this book manages to introduce pretty much every major philososophical idea there is. With sections with titles like "twelve traditional philosophy problems no one really cares about anyway" this book is pure entertainment from start to finish.|
|Quite frankly this is a very clever set of books. How Douglas Adams (God rest his soul) managed to think of all these ideas is incredible. It must be admitted that the last two books in the series of five are less good quality, however this is mainly because of the incredible gauntlet set down by the first three.
If you haven't read these yet, you must be mad - you're gonna love 'em!
