Experiments in Progress
I am always working on something. My job has decreased the amount of time I have been able to workout. As a result, I often have Ideas that are in either the planning or experimentation stage. I will discuss some of them here.
Many of you have seen or used dumbbell Power Hooks. I have a pair. While they are useful, they have a lot of limitations. They are hard to remove and reinstall on a different weight of dumbbell, but worst of all they don't work with thick handle dumbbells. The picture above is of a device I made to accomplish the same thing. It needs a little more work, but I think it has possibilities. The only problem I have is the wires have a tendency to move. This can result in pinched fingers or make it hard to get the dumbbell back into the hooks. I hope to resolve the problem, soon.
I have plans for a anvil simulator. As many of you know, anvils are fun to lift. Unfortunately, they are very expensive. The actual shape of the horn seems to vary, however a cone shape seems very common. I have theorized that it would be easy to make a simulator with the top of a road construction cone. They have a very similar shape. I plan to secure a chain in the cone top, with several screws. Then, when the cone is filled with cement, it should hold the chain in place. Whatever weight is desired, can then be added to the chain.
Squeezable handled dumbbells have been of interest to me for sometime. They should give an intense, unique hand workout. It should be possible to use cushions similar to a leg extension, for the dumbbells. At this point, I am waiting on a suppliers shipment and should have an update soon.
While not really an invention, I am looking for a low cost way to get a lot of my weight equipment out of the way. I really need more floor space. Menard's has advertised very heavy shelving. It is my hope, that I will be able to stack a large amount of dumbbell and weight on them.
