Basic Cro-Tat Cross, 1 round with Shell Border, 2 rounds with Irish Picot Border, 2 rounds

I used No. 10 cotton, and a cro-tat hook. You can use any thread or yarn, with appropriate size crochet or afghan hook with a long, straight shaft, and having a small enough head to pull the thread through multiple loops without hanging up on the thread or yarn. These are not easy to find!

For the basics of Cro-Tat, see my earlier designs for the basics in tutorial form.

picot (p) - for this design, p are used only for joining, so they will all be mere little nubbins, a scant 1/8'' long when you are making the p space on your crotat hook, just enough to show you where to join on later on.
Basic Ring (R)- 4ds, p, 4ds, p, 4ds, p, 4ds, close ring- in some places in this design, the place where the ring is closed will serve as a joining spot for another ring as your turn the corners of this cross design.

Instructions: - Rings are numbered in picture and in directions for ease of understanding.
