Stitches-
----------sl st - slip stitch
----------picot (p) - 1/2'' space between ds stitches
----------double hitch stitch (ds) - basic
2-part tatting and Cro-Tat stitch
----------Basic Ring
(R) - 2ds, p, 3ds, p, 3ds,
p, 2ds, Close ring.
--------------------This Basic Ring pattern will be slightly adapted
within the directions to
---------------------allow for joinings at the appropriate p.
----------Basic Trefoil Cluster - 3 R with appropriate joinings
----------Join -
insert hook into specified p, pull up loop to stand for 1st half
of next
--------------------ds, then make 2nd half of ds, one ds made
----------extended trc (forms
bridge across the base of the Trefoil Cluster)- turn work
--------------------to back side, yo twice, insert hook into space at
base of specified R, pull up
--------------------loop, work off 1 loop, then work off 2 loops
three times as for normal trc,
--------------------turn work back to front side.
First Trefoil Cluster
Ch4,
R = 2ds, join in 4th ch back from hook, 2ds more, p, 3ds, p, 2ds,
close R,
(this is the front of the work)
Ch2,
R = 2ds, join in last p of prev. R just made, 2ds more, p, 3ds,
p, 2ds, close R,
Ch2,
R = 2ds, join in last p of prev. R just made, 2ds more, p, 3ds,
p, 2ds, close R,
rotate work slightly away so that you are looking at the back of
the work,
extended trc into the base of the first R of this Trefoil
Cluster,
rotate work slightly back toward you so that you are looking
again at the front of the work,
Ch4,
sl into last p of last R just made,
first trefoil cluster made.
Second Trefoil Cluster
Ch7,
R = 2ds, join in 4th ch back from hook, 2ds more, join into last
p of last R of prev Trefoil Cluster made, 2ds more, p, 2ds, close
R,
Ch2,
R = 2ds, join in last p of prev. R just made, 2ds more, p, 3ds,
p, 2ds, close R,
Ch2,
R = 2ds, join in last p of prev. R just made, 2ds more, p, 3ds,
p, 2ds, close R,
rotate work slightly away so that you are looking at the back of
