Regine: She's Better Than Ever
By Anne Stephanie Cruz
Asia's songbird Regine
Velasquez, voted as MTV Asia's Favorite Artist last February
in Singapore, is set to perform in a musical concert entitled
"Regine at the Movies" at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in
San Francisco on Saturday, June 22 at 8 p.m. and at the Grand
Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles the next Saturday, June 29,
at 8 p.m.
A concert dedicated to blockbuster movie hits, "Regine at
the Movies" is guaranteed to entertain all generations from
Lolos and Lolas to Nanays and Tatays, and the apos. For, aside
from hit Filipino movie themes and her own favorites, Regine
will be doing her rendition of timeless Hollywood film themes
sure to evoke happy and bittersweet moments for her adoring
fans.
Regine will be joined by her special guest,
singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid. A versatile entertainer, Ogie
first made waves in the music industry in the late '80s. He
popularized the well-loved Filipino ballads "Nandito Ako", "Mahal
Kita, Walang Iba", "Sa Kanya" and "Pangako". Regine personally
requested Ogie to compose a theme song for her movie with
Robin Padilla in 2000.
The result was the passionate but melancholy "Kailangan
Ko’y Ikaw" which launched Regine’s box office movie career.
This was followed by "Pangako Ikaw Lang" with Aga Muhlach and
"Ikaw Lang, Hangang Ngayon" with Richard Gomez. The movie
themes for these two were again, Ogie Alcasid originals.
See the glamour of Regine Velasquez, and the talent of Ogie
Alcasid, all in one show. Both are better than ever.
