Day Dress suitable for garden parties or elegant tea parties (ca. 1885), belonged to Anna Vincent Massey, wife of Chester Massey and mother of Governor-General Vincent Massey and actor Raymond Massey. The Dress was donated by Melodie Massey in June of 1998, following the death of her husband, Hart Massey.

Chester D. Massey and Family Story Board
The Newcastle Community Hall was donated by Chester D. Massey, 2nd son of Hart A. Massey and grandson of Daniel Massey. Daniel Massey was founder in Newcastle in 1849 of what was later to become the giant agricultural implement manufacturing company, Massey-Ferguson.
Architects: E.R. Rolph & Henry Sproatt, Toronto built the Community Hall at a cost of $150,000.00.

The original display cases and cabinets that were used to hold the books in the library, are now used to display local artifacts and memorabilia from the area. The cabinet doors were removed and stored in the attic many years ago, Society members recovered the doors from the attic, restored them and then reinstalled them.
