Homecoming, 1976 Acrylic on board . 1120mm x 1640mm . Auckland Gallery collection . © Peter Siddell 1976
This painting is from the collection of the Auckland Art Gallery: Toi O Tamaki and from 2006 until mid 2007 it was on display as part of the exhibition Hei Konei Mai
Although the house featured here is based on an actual building the painting itself is constructed from things remembered, observed and imagined.
On the walls of the interior of the house, I have placed paintings and photographs of people and artists important to me. By coincidence, in Hei Konei Mai, there are a number of works by the artists whose paintings are shown inside this house.
