"Love" - by Chris Shrigley - August 96

Like a flower, that blooms, withers, dies in endless cycle
Each time its heart more hardy than the last
Its colour changes with each incarnation
One time bright and vivid, another dark and desolate
A Perfect reflection of that, that surrounds it

A precious jewel of pure exquisite beauty
Fragile and exposed to the world around
Thorns, cuspidate, stand guard it's stem
Defiant, resolute against maladroit others
All too impotent against careless actions

It's sweet, lulling scent wafts unseen
Like fingers, prying, caressing, unlocking
Changing all who breathe it's heady aroma
Giving and allowing to take with out condition
Filling those with hopes and dreams anew
