Europe 1998
Many Americans have roots in Europe and I happen to be one of them, being a first-generation "Yank".

The beauty I saw in Europe  was enormous, even to the point of being over-whelming and numbing.  For instance, after having traveled through just Italy, I couldn't bear to enter one more magnificent church and I got bored at the prospect of witnessing another one of  Micheal Angelo's breath-taking marble statues.  This man-made splendidness was too much!!

After Italy, I saw a different type of beauty, one made entirely by Mother Earth: The Alps in Switzerland are is probably the most pristine and spell-binding place I have seen yet.

Brittany in France, and of course, Paris were incredible, as was the little city of Brugges in Belgium.   Brugges is famous for it's beer varieties and delicious chocolates.  And I'll never forget having to use two hands to hold up my liter-sized mug of beer in Munich, Germany.

Europe should definitely be on everyone's "To Do" List.  But please, fellow Americans, heed my advice:  Keep an open mind, rest assured that neither you nor your country is superior to everything, respect different cultures and customs, and don't be so damn loud.
