Addendum Updated on 22 OCT 2002

"For a while there, the alternate universe Captain Marvel I was cloned from shared his molecular structure with some guy named Snapper Jones!"

- Fredd, Captain Marvel's evil twin clone future self from an alternate dimension, Captain Marvel (Volume III) #16, April 2001

Format

Name [DC Character / Marvel Character]

Notes, comments, and blah-de-blah. BKS

If more than one character from a publisher is merged, they are separated by commas. A "?" indicates doubt, of course. "[]" is short for "[? / ?]". If the source is simply "[DCU]" or "[MU]", the character refered to is from the DC Universe or Marvel Universe. This is changed from Jon Woodward's original document, in which such notation meant that the character is not obviously merged, though he or she may be changed. Characters that do not have an obvious component from one reality or the other are marked with a "?" (e.g., Mole Man.). "None", "both", and "various" are self-explanatory. After that is a brief discussion of the character and the merging.

Glossary

DCU, MU, AU, WI, EW

DC Universe, Marvel Universe, Amalgam Universe, What If..?, Elseworld.

Elements

Details, or things that are thematically related to a character, without necessarily being actual parts of the original character's myth. E.g., The Four Freedoms Retirement Home for Crime-Fighters is the Four Freedoms Plaza that formerly housed Marvel's Fantastic Four. It has no direct DC analog, although it is clearly inspired by the Dark Knight Returns, in which all the superheroes of the DCU have gone into retirement.

Proposed

Unofficial name for an unnamed character, or presumed detail about a character. Elements or components that are proposed (usually for unseen or unnamed characters) will be in Italics.

Throwaway

A name mentioned in passing, about which nothing is known.

Notes

Normal names (e.g., Caulder, Niles) are listed last name first.

'ABC' Map code created by Jonothan Woodward, used by permission.

K

Kang / Immortus [MU]

Later, both Kang and Immortus were involved in the cross-dimensional "DESTINY WAR", in which Thorion the Hunter aided the MU Avengers. Note: Due to the existence of the Council of Cross-Time Kangs, it is entirely possible that Kang the Time-Conqueror (AU) is a divergent of the original Kang (MU), rather than just a counterpart. Moon Boy [Robin (Camp version) / Mid-Night]

Young sidekick to Moon Man (II) in Cosmopolis. Sometimes referred to as the Crater Kid. Note: no connection exists with the MU character Moon Boy. MK42

Moon Ghost [Space Ghost / Moon Knight]

Alternate far future counterpart to Moon Knight, usually accompanied by two teen-agers and a space monkey. Killed by the extra-dimensional Moon Shade. MK42

Moon Knight [MU]

Marc Spector of the Marvel Universe. Moon Knight battled a powerful doppleganger called Moon Shade across the multiverse during the INFINITY WAR. He encountered several other counterparts to himself, including Dark Moon, MoonFang, Crescent Moon, Moon Spirit, Moon Ghost, Dino-Knight, Moon Maid, and Moon Man (II), several of which could have existed in the Amalgam Universe II. Moon Knight returned to the Marvel Universe after destroying Moon Shade in Cosmopolis. MK42

Moon Maid [Little Mermaid / Moon Knight]

Superheroine mermaid, protector of Atlanhattan. Killed by Moon Shade. MK42

Moon Man I [Batman (Earth 2) / Moon Knight]

Golden Age character published by Timely Comics in 1941. Moon Man (alternately "MoonMan" or "Moon-Man") only comes out on nights when the moon is full, and he is "hunted alike by the underworld and the police." Proposed existence in the Amalgam Universe as a forerunner to the 'silver age' Moon Man II by Crazy Ivan. MYS5

Moon Man II [Batman (60s Camp version) / Moon Knight]

The Crescent Crusader of Cosmopolis. Alongside his sidekick Moon Boy and the Moon Knight from the Marvel Universe, Moon Man helped defeat Moon Shade. May be the successor of Moon Man I, as proposed by Crazy Ivan. MK42

Moon Shade [MU]

Doppleganger of the Marvel Universe Moon Knight created during the INFINITY WARS. He achieved extra-dimensional status by absorbing various counterparts of Moon Knight across the multiverse (including several amalgamated ones), until he was destroyed by Moon Knight and Moon Man (II) in Cosmopolis. MK42

Moon Spirit [The Spirit / Moon Knight]

Two-fisted adventurer, likely to have been active from 1941 to 1955. Moon Spirit and his sidekick Ivory fought the extra-dimensional monster called Moon Shade and lost, possibly resulting in the death of Moon Spirit. Note that the Spirit is not a character in the DCU, but his exploits have been published by both DC and Quality (a comics company bought by DC). The name Moon Spirit is proposed for this amalgam since the character is referred to only as 'Mister Spector.' MK42

Moonchild [Leah, Raven / Moondragon]

Alleatha. Empathic, mystical, eternal sidekick of Phantom Stranger, & member of New Mystic Youth. Moonchild arranged for Tim Hunter's parents to die in order to fulfill his wish to become a superhero. Slaughters her teammates Hellspawn, Black Talos, Junior Goddess, and Proteus to win the love of the Other, who in turn kills her. Moondragon element proposed by Crazy Ivan to provide MU component. BOMA8

Nimoy the Metallic-Man [Alloy the Metal Man / Nimrod]

Proposed identity of robot seen battling Fredd in an alternate future timeline (Kingdom X). Identity and origin proposed by Anwar Singh. CM16

Other, the [DCU]

Tim Hunter, from an alternate reality in which he experimented with magic and wound up traveling to another world. This Tim discovered that by killing each world's resident Tim Hunter he would absorb his doppelganger's power. Believing that he was the only real Tim, he traveled to many realities, including one he documented as #612 (allegedly the Amalgam Universe), where the local Tim Hunter was a superhero called Hellspawn. In order to breach the New Mystic Youth security systems, he befriended Moonchild and coerced her into killing her teammates. Upon Hellspawn's death the Other left for the next Earth, leaving behind a white haze that obliterated his immediate surroundings, including Moonchild. According to the story, each reality vanishes as though it was a dream when the resident Tim Hunter dies. This is considered an exaggeration for the purpose of maintaining the continuity of "Earth 612" in the Amalgam Universe. BOMA3
