FLORENCE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

MUSEUM EMBLEM
LOCATION: Florence Museum of Natural History, Florence, Italy
DATE OF TRAVEL: July 1999

This is the one of two official emblems of the Florence Museum of Natural History. The first emblem contains a drawing of a large mammoth stepping over the famous Florence landmark, the Duomo cathedral. This emblem is a simple picture of a saber tooth tiger, most likely Homeotherium crenatidens, a tiger from the Upper Valdarno. This particular emblem appeared on a sticker that was sold through the museum gift shop. Of course, all proceeds ($.75 worth!) went to fund museum research!
