The Commentary

Before I say anything, I'll apologise because the chart is one week late! I'm so sorry. I wasn't busy either.. I just kept putting it off. Anyways, it's here now.

A #1 debut!! When was the last time this happened!? It was 13 months ago when "Stan" by Eminem debuted straight at number 1. Approximately 3 years ago, Alanis Morissette debuted at #1 with "Thank-You". That was the first single from "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie". Today, with her first single from "Under Rug Swept", Alanis debuts at #1 yet again with "Hands Clean". It's the third time that Alanis has a song of hers debut at #1. In 1996 "You Learn" also debuted at #1 and ended up being the #1 song of that year. Actually, it could have been 1997.. I'm too lazy to check. It's a great feeling to have Alanis back on the charts! Speaking of Alanis, let's take a look at her chart history on Rob's Top 40.

"Utopia" did chart for one week, but then I realised I found out it wasn't actually a single, so I did remove it the following week. Hopefully her next single, after "Hands Clean", is "Precious Illusions", which is my favorite song on "Under Rug Swept". I finally heard "Hands Clean" on the radio last week and the video plays on some music video channels, so I thought it was time to debut "Hands Clean"! It's too early to tell how long it'll spend at number 1, but it's probably going to be a long time! It's that good!

After spending 2 weeks at the top, Creed fell to number 3 with "My Sacrifice", which has been on the chart for 13 weeks now. I love the song, but I HATE the video for one reason... the lead singer keeps making all these fists and poses in the video.. and it annoys me like crazy. There isn't a lot of movement in the chart this week, everything is really tight.
