Above is the remainder of Markdale Standard student employee Ruth Graham's article on the August 1957 filming of a western movie under the working title "A Boy And His Dog." (eventually released as "WOLF DOG"). The former Orchard's Drug Store on Markdale's Main Street was the locale for the drug store scenes.

Assistant director Bert Narota did much of the on-location direction of extras and onlookers. Actor John Hart (who once portrayed "The Lone Ranger") is mentioned by name here, but never received an onscreen credit. Despite indications to the contrary, the civil war picture mentioned never came to Markdale, Ontario. In fact, the feature filmed in Pickering, Ontario and Griffith's Park, California proved to be the final hurrah in prodigious Producer/Director Sam Newfield's tenure.
