one week for the Beavers. On Friday the Mountain Pine pulled into the
Arkansas Health Center to take on Glen Rose. The Beavers made quick work
of the Red Devils winning the game 10-0 in five innings. It was the third
game of the week in which the 10 run rule was in use. Anthony Ballance
was the winning pitcher for Glen Rose pitching all 5 innings.
This win brings the Beavers to 2-2 in conference play, and 7-3 overall
this season. Glen Rose has scored 88 runs this season, so far, while they
have only allowed 30 runs to be scored on them. That makes for an average
score of about 9-3.

the Beaver baseball team defeated the Arkansas School for Math and Science
Dolphins to the tune of 17-14. Both of the meetings between the teams
have went the Beavers way this season. Both games featured a lot of offense,
as well. The Beavers record stands at 3-1 now with a 0-1 record in conference

In a game filled
with offense on Friday afternoon, the Glen Rose baseball Beavers came
through in the end with a 13-10 victory over the Arkansas School for Math
After 2 innings the Beavers looked like they were going to run away with
a win, leading 7-1. But the Dolphins weren't done. In the third inning
they exploded and tied the game up at 7-7. The Beavers made a pitching
change and got out of the inning alive.
The Beavers finally got the lead back in the fifth inning. In the top
of the sixth, because of darkness and the threat of rain the decision
was made that it would be the last inning. The Beavers made quick work
of the Dolphins in the top of the inning, and held on to the 13-10 lead
for the win. The Beavers are 2-1 on the year, 0-1 in conference play.

The baseball team also traveled to Bauxite on Monday, but lost a defensive

7-0 victory over Lutheran High School. Anthony Ballance was the winning
pitcher for the Beavers going the entire seven innings. Next up for the
Beavers is the Arkansas School for Math and Sciences on Friday.
Baseball season comes swinging in
On Thursday the 2002 Baseball
season will get underway when the Beavers will face Lutheran at the Arkansas
Health Center. The Beavers also have a game on Friday with the Arkansas
School for Math and Sciences comes for a visit. The first pitch
is at 4:00 for both games.
Two new coaches take
Two new coaches
will take over the helm for the two major spring sports at Glen Rose.
Former softball coach Shane Hartsell left Glen Rose this summer
leaving the softball coaching job open. New head girls basketball
coach Brad Matthews will be leading the Lady Beavers softball team this
Coach Kenny Horn who was on the staff last year as a student intern and
the pitching coach for the Beavers, was hired this summer to be an assistant
football coach, and the head coach of the baseball team.
Baseball and Softball
and softball seasons are over at Glen Rose for this year. Both teams lost
on Friday in the 5AA South District Tournament.
The baseball team was playing in their opening round game against Mountain
Pine and lost 4-2. The softball team was playing in their second game
of the tournament losing to Poyen 12-2. In their opening round game the
defeated Bauxite 14-2.
Beavers and Lady
Beavers end regular season with losses
games for the softball and baseball teams ended on Monday. The results
were not the best, but the District Tournament should be good.
Harmony Grove was the opponent for both teams. The baseball team lost
9-6, while the softball team lost 15-0.
The softball district tournament starts Wednesday, April 18. The baseball
team will play their opening round game on Friday, April 20.

for the Diamond Beavers
beat Cutter Morning Star 16-0 in 5 innings on Monday at the Benton Services
Shawn Hargrove, Cole Ledbetter, and Jake Doddridge scored three runs in
the first inning thanks to RBI's from Spencer Burroughs, Chris Talley,
and Hunter Young.
Six more runs came in the second inning as Andrew Neel, Josh Lambertus,
and Ledbetter all scored on a big grand slam from Doddridge. Talley doubled
and score Burroughs, and Neel singled Young in.
In the first two inning the Beavers had 6 stolen bases. The blow out continued
with 5 more runs in the third inning. Hargrove scored when Ledbetter double,
and then Doddridge hit a two-run homer for his second home run of the
game. Burroughs and Tally scored the other two runs on a basehit from
Ledbetter scored in the fourth, and Hargrove scored one more time in the

Tara Hawkins and Brittany Cates scored in the second. Cutter took a 3-2

Jessica McDougal, Lauren Lambert, and Hawkins scored. McDougal, Lambert,
and Hawkins scored in the sixth. Jennifer Norwook and Lambert rounded
out the scoring in the final inning.
The Lady Beavers are now 6-10 overall and 4-3 in conference action.

Jones and McDougal scored two runs each.
The eight runs in the second inning came from Reeves, Jones, McDougal,
Lauren Lambert, Hawkins, Jones, Cates and Estes. McDougal hit a two-run
homer in the inning.
McDougal was the leading batter for the Lady Beavers she was 3 for 3,
she had a single, triple, and a home run. Cates was the winning pitcher
giving up 1 hit, and had 3 strikeouts.

Lady Beavers got a 7-4 win in a strange game that was over after 2 innings.
The Pine Bluff St. Joseph's pitcher was called for 'crow hopping'. Crow
hopping is when the pitcher hops off the mound during her windup. The
umpires discussed this problem with the St. Joe's coach, and St. Joe's
forfeited the rest of the game. Glen Rose coach Shane Hartsell told the
umps about it, and after they had called the pitcher on it a few times
finally told the coach.
